Basketball SA

Basketball SA was formed in 2006 and is the peak body responsible for the development and promotion of basketball in South Australia.

Basketball SA represents the major basketball associations and clubs throughout South Australia and is represented by four key stakeholder groups – Basketball Adelaide, SA Country, SA Church and Recreation Centres.

 

Basketball Australia

Basketball Australia is the governing and controlling body for the sport of basketball in Australia and is located in Mascot, Sydney.

The members of Basketball Australia are the state/territory basketball associations and, from 1 July 2009, the member clubs of the National Basketball League. BA runs the national leagues and national teams and national junior championships.

 

NBL

The National Basketball League is regarded as one of the premier basketball leagues in the world, and after a humble beginning, is today home to some of the world's best players.

 

WNBL

The Womens National Basketball League is regarded as one of the premier basketball leagues in the world, and after a humble beginning, is today home to some of the world's best players.

 

Adelaide 36ers

As one of the most successful NBL clubs, the Adelaide 36ers are a key part of the National Basketball League in Australia.

 

Adelaide Lightning

The City of Adelaide was planned by Colonel William Light, whose statue overlooks the town centre from its lofty perch at Montefiore Hill. The name Adelaide LIGHTNING utilised Light's surname, when South Australia decided at the end of 1992 to submit a composite team into the Women's National Basketball League.
