What is District Basketball?

District Basketball is Forestville Eagles' highest level of junior club competition, offering players aged Under 10 through to Youth League the opportunity to develop and compete in South Australia’s premier junior basketball system.

District is a representative-level program, meaning players are selected via tryouts and compete against other top clubs in the Basketball SA District Competition. This is the pathway for players striving toward state, national and even professional basketball.

A Typical District Year

Pre-Grading Season:
October to December – sets divisions and team placements for the year ahead. Training begins in early September.

Championship Season:
January to August/September – weekly home and away games across Adelaide, including key tournaments.

Key Info

Teams train twice a week – Usually one midweek and one Sunday session
Games are scheduled Thursday, Friday, or Saturday depending on division and age group

Uniforms: Players must wear Forestville's official reversible jersey and shorts

Pathway to Higher Levels

District Basketball is the stepping stone to elite development. Players selected into Division 1 and 2 squads are eligible for:

State Championships participation
Basketball SA High Performance Program (HPP) and state team selection

Ready to Try Out?

District external trials for the 2025/2026 season have been completed and no further Under 12 to Under 18 registrations will be accepted. If District isn’t the right fit or you’ve missed trials, our Domestic Competition is a great way to get started. Domestic is open to new and returning players.
